Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Bothell’s Chateau St. Laurent CCRC

Q.What type of CCRC is Chateau St. Laurent ?
A.Chateau St. Laurent is a Refundable Entry Fee CCRC with a Fee-For-Service. Fee-For-Service means that you only pay for care services when you need them. This also affords peace of mind that your Entry Fee money is not being used to subsidize a nursing home as with many traditional CCRCs.
Q.What is an Entry Fee?
A.Our Entry Fee is a one time up-front payment that covers the rent or housing portion of living at Chateau St. Laurent. Our one-time Refundable Entry Fee is set before you move in, depending on the apartment home you choose, and ensures you need never worry about increasing rent and housing costs for as long as you live at Chateau St. Laurent. Moreover, you do not pay taxes on your Refundable Entry Fee.
Q.How much of the Entry Fee is refundable?
A.We offer a 100% Refundable Entry Fee, which puts money back in the hands of you and your family.
Q.How can I be assured my Entry Fee will be refunded?
A.Chateau St. Laurent is unique in that our Refundable Entry Fee is secured by a second Deed of Trust held by FDAC insured Wells Fargo Bank.
Q.Are there other financial options available?
A.Yes. Charter residents who secure one of our exclusive homes before opening may choose between the 100% Refundable Entry Fee or a 10% up-front discount on the Entry Fee, with 90% refunded upon move-out.
Q.Do you do a financial screening?
A.Yes. We ask you to complete a Residency Application which discloses both financial and health information prior to making a 10% deposit of your Refundable Entry Fee.
Q.Are any financial safety nets in place to protect my ability to live at Chateau St. Laurent for as long as possible?
A.Yes. Should your expenses exceed your monthly income, you may draw against your Entry Fee to supplement your monthly income. The financial disclosure process required prior to move in enables us to have a reasonably good idea under what conditions this might occur, and we will review this option on a case by case basis.
Q.Can I use my Long Term Care Insurance at Chateau St. Laurent?
A.Yes. Long Term Care Insurance (LTC) can be used to pay for care services at Chateau St. Laurent. Every LTC policy is different - we do not try to interpret the terms of your policy but urge you to consult your insurance carrier to understand the provisions of your policy.
Q.How many meals are included in my monthly fee?
A.We offer 35 meal credits per month which can be used in our restaurant-style dining room and at our bistro. We want you to enjoy what you want, when you want it, so we allow meals to rollover into the next 30 days, providing you with the flexibility to travel or go on vacation without losing meal credits. You are also welcome to use your meal credits for guests.
Q.What spectrum of care services do you offer?
A.At Chateau St. Laurent, a full spectrum of care is available. In addition to independent living, we are licensed to provide in-house assisted living services under the program direction of our company RN. As a Fee-For-Service CCRC, we will arrange for you to receive skilled care services if and when you need it.
Q.Will I have to move as my care needs increase?
A.No. Chateau St. Laurent is committed to meeting your care needs in the comfort of your home, without ever necessitating a move. Our assisted living services are provided in the comfort of your own home, as well as the nursing care we arrange for you should you need it. At Chateau St. Laurent, you never need to move into an on-campus nursing home, as is the case with many traditional CCRCs.
Q.Do you provide transportation?
A.Yes. In addition to scheduled air-conditioned bus transportation to doctor appointments, shopping trips, bank errands and excursion activities, we provide an individualized concierge town-car service with advance notice.
Q.What are some of the community and neighborhood attractions surrounding Chateau St. Laurent?
A.In addition to being across the street from the nationally renowned Northshore Senior Center, we are easy walking distance to charming downtown Bothell with its many boutique shops, restaurants, banks and services. Additionally, our location along the rolling Sammamish Riverfront affords easy access to the Sammamish River Walking Trail, Bothell Landing, museums and points of interest.
